How to Challenge Your Negative Beliefs

  1. When you come across a limiting thought or belief, the first step is to label it. Naming a thought helps you to separate from it.

    Ex thought: “I’m a failure.”

  2. Then ask yourself: Is it true?

    Ex : “Am I really a failure?”

  3. Do I have all the evidence?

    Ex : “I did fail once, but I‘ve succeeded many times too.”

  4. What would my best friend say about this?

    Ex : “Of course you’re not a failure.”

  5. Will this matter 5 years from now?

    Ex : “I probably won’t even remember this in 5 years.”

  6. The last step is to reframe the limiting belief into a positive counter thought.

    Ex : “Just because I might have failed in the past, doesn’t mean I’ll fail again. This is hard, but I believe in myself.”
